Hi, Jack. I had cataract surgery in 2022 on both eyes. I had them put me to sleep because I have an anxiety disorder. If I am not knocked out, I have been known to try to get off the gurney so that I can leave. I admit that I can be a difficult patient, but that is to be expected because I am a Registered Nurse, retired. Anyway, it is amazing what you can see after it is done. No more glasses except for reading.
As for the arch, it is ridiculous. He must think that he is an emperor. That whole DOGE mess was a lie. trump wastes our money all of the time. He doesn’t want money spent on necessities for citizens, but he certainly will blow it to make himself look important.

I thought I could see just fine until the cataracts were out and the new lenses were in. Most people apparently get the distance vision and have to wear glasses for close vision. I did the exact opposite--close-up vision so I could see and hug the grandkids, take photographs, write, use computers, cook, etc. all without glasses. As long as it is bright out even distance is sharp. It's only when you have four months of rain in the PNW that you need glasses for distance. More books? Great news!
Really wish I had gotten the other lenses. I had been wearing glasses since I was 9 so wearing distance glasses would have been okay - I still find myself reaching for glasses that aren't on my face!
I continue to be amazed at how sharp things are, especially in the distance, with my glasses on! And that period of photography when I had cataracts at the end and I thought I was doing great—clearly oversaturated! I now consider it a “period” of my art photography!

Get cheap ones from Dollar Tree. Didn't need them for a couple of years afterwards, and they're reading glasses. I suggest at least 3 days before straining the eyes.

Cataract surgery. I was nearly blind in one eye, and not as bad in the other. Had the surgeries 2 months apart 10 years ago. Do NOT get them done at the same time. I've known people who did and had bad outcomes. Give yourself at least 3 days before you go back to normal activities. I returned too soon with the first one. BTW, there are 2 types of lens, one nearsighted, the other farsighted. You can get both, one in each eye. I had the farsighted ones, and have regretted it since. I needed reading glasses 2-3 years after the surgery. Really annoying. I get the cheap Dollar Tree ones and have one in every room in the house. :-) Don't bother with expensive reading glasses. I'm up to the 2.0 lenses - why they don't have 2.25 is beyond me, as that's the one I really need, and 2.5 is too strong. BTW, there can be some scarring after a few years. But the fix for that is a quick laser zap - might have that done on Thursday when I see the ophthalmologist again (every 6 months).
Good luck. BTW, when the surgery was done, I was seeing kaleidoscopes of color during it. :-) Rather pretty. No pain. Got home and slept for the rest of the day and night. :-)
