Instead, it was hard science. Hard, hard science. Of course, in those pre-Hubble days, they were still teaching that the moon was made out of camembert.
Oh, man! I did not know of the film even though for a while I avidly followed very bit of the JWST saga. So will definitely go see the film. This is also why I like geology. It puts things into perspective.
This IS a welcome respite from American politics, thanks Jack. Your visual ordeal is sounding very familiar to me. I am a former radio/TV/PR person from Portland/Newport and current OCD Arizona artist. My attention to detail reveals my attention deficit to other things like math, which annoys the hell out of me. My eyes are failing. I have so many sets of glasses for different distances. I now need one of those magnifying glass lights to do what I did with my art using mere reading glasses a few years ago. But I digress. The glimpses into deep space we get from the new images are mind blowing. Deep space diverts me from "deep state" bullshit. They remind me to buy green bananas and stop worrying for a moment.
I looked at NASA images from the Webb telescope today after you posted this. Thank you for reminding us of the Universe and subsequently our place in it. Jaw dropping beauty and mind blowing imagery. Even Trump can’t fuck up the largest picture when it comes to this. He is a mere blip. No matter what.

Yes, the James Webb Space Telescope is an amazing tool for scientists. It will probably change the way we think about space.
