You really nailed it here, Jack, right on its head.

I really don’t get Clarence Thomas’s siding with the conservatives on abolishing the Voting Rights Act. It’s painful to see. Is being beholden to the Heritage Foundation (and the accompanying perks) all that matters?

It's a litmus test -- like refusing to say who won the 2020 election no matter how ridiculuous it makes one look. Pathological loyalty. But we know now the tell. It's like the 60s TV series The Invaders when Roy Thinnes' character notices that the aliens can't bend their little finger!

“Pathological loyalty” does explain a lot!

I can’t bend either of my little fingers, but I think it’s arthritis😛

Good one, Jack.

Thank you. On another site, I made the comment that I couldn't see how Thomas would vote against the civil rights that led to him being on the court. And how black voters would vote for a man whose goal was to deny them voting rights. And said it was ironic that they and poor whites would vote against their self interests. The response I got was basically how dare I assume that blacks should vote the way I think they should vote. Don't think the person knew what "irony" actually means.

A large majority of them don't.

Yes he can. Evidently not wherever though.

The issue is not whether he can vote wherever. The issue is whether his vote has a chance to elect someone who looks like him. Or whether his vote will ever be able to elect someone who isn't a white supremacist. A district with majority black population might vote one way, so they want to dilute the black people in those districts so they never have a majority. It's the same thing as gerrymandering, except by color instead of political party.

This is so appropriate. Thomas’s “white supremest attitude” always reminds me of Steve Martin’s classic line in “The Jerk”.

Talk about speaking out loud what most are thinking, but afraid to say for fear of being politically incorrect!

Excellent, J. O.

Best… /g

Oh, the irony! Oh the humanity! Clarence Thomas isn't a black person, he's an oreo.

Richard's avatar

He's one of the good ones, though.

All the best people.

Good ones? His wife is white and MAGA, and the two of them have collected some very lavish gifts from white oligarchs who have business before the court. And 99% of the time, he votes conservative on the court.

If you thinks that makes him one of the "good guys" that would make you a troll here.

Richard's avatar

Sarcasm, Kathryn. He is a horrible person, as is his wife.

I figured that Richard!

🎯!!! Your Clarence Thomas is almost too good 😂😂. So dry!! Thanks, Jack❣️

Pat Squire's avatar

He is who he’s always been. Out for himself.

Eric Stromquist's avatar

I know, Kathryn. I was of course trying to be snide but there's absolutely nothing funny about it. Mitch McConnell packing SCOTUS is quite possibly the worst thing that's happened in the past decade out of all the other worst things.

Nailed it.

Clarence and wife are headliners for shameless, and probably proud of it!!

Well done, Jack!!
