Brilliant reconstruction, Jack, but you missed the salient point. Someone should've thrown a punch. And based on the facial expressions, my money is on Laura Bush.
Watching just part of the funeral made me REALLY miss the days when we had the Obamas as our leaders. Sure wish Michelle would have been willing to run for President. But I certainly understand why would have no interest in that. Could she have defeated the orange- haired monster? I just read that Trump has raised $170 million for his inauguration party. All is now right in our country. (I joke.) Think how much good that $170 million could do if it were given to recovery efforts in LA.
Trump's scowl during almost the entire service made me think that he'd put a load in his Depends and was hoping that he could exit without it running down his leg.
I read it to my husband. Good take on Obama's assignment by the JLetc. Loved the ice sculpture characterization. And people wonder why Michelle was not there? From now on we can blame any natural disaster, be it hurricane, earthquake, tornado, or flood, on the idiot orange man ( and house fires or forest fires anywhere).
I don’t know where the notion that our First Lady “snubs” our Vice President at occasions of solemn national remembrance originated, but it seems to have been in the slime pits of international Murdochiana such as the Daily Mail. I’m sorry to find writers as good as you and Robin Givhan, of the Washington Post, giving this bit of cheap gossip respectable currency, as if it was a fact universally recognized. Your otherwise observant eye seems to have missed the affectionate smile and leg tap given Vice President Harris by Dr. Biden during one of the eulogies. It was of course discreet, but the kind of fond gesture shared by good friends.
All very well said. Melania may have been concentrating on suppressing her libido since Michelle was in Hawaii. Karen Pence deserves a nod. As a product of the Sisters of Providence (St. Mary of the Woods), I can tell you Indiana Nice ain't a thing and Karen wasn't going to manufacture it Thursday. Cheers for Andy Young! Perhaps he brought up Fred Chappell to give us some of JC's spiritual guidance. Jimmy C or Jesus C--you choose.
I found Obama and Trump laughing at Carter's Funeral the most despicable act of the day. Sleeping during the ceremony and not honoring Carter (Trump eventually put his hand on his stomach rather than his heart) was disgusting, but laughing at a private joke at a funeral! Shame on Obama! Shame on Trump!
I too was bothered by that sight. I’d like to understand Barrack’s apparent joviality with Herr Drumpf. Bugged the hell out of myself and others I later spoke with. WTH?

I actually mulled writing that.

So funny I called people and read parts aloud!
I did too!
Yet so sad.

And the seasons, they go round and round. "Can't we all get along?" -- Rodney King
Spot on, Jack. I watched the whole thing live and you've captured the "highlights."

Thank you for calling out the misinformation of gossips.
